No decision on mayor”™s status until September

Contrary to rumours, Mayor Lou Maieron remains a member of the Credit Valley Conservation (CVC)board of directors.

Earlier this year, the mayor’s position on the CVC board came into question following a complaint lodged regarding his refusal to sign the board’s code of conduct. At that time a subcommittee was formed to review the situation and a report brought forward to the June meeting of the board.

However, Maieron was unable to attend that meeting, CVC acting chief administrative officer John Kinkead said.

Because of that, Kinkead said the issue was deferred until the Sept. 13 meeting of the board (the board traditionally does not meet in the summer).

“At that time, I expect the report will come up for consideration,” said Kinkead.

The report, if approved, recommends Maieron face “escalating reprimands” for his actions, ranging from a request for an apology to suspension of remuneration to, finally, a written petition to Erin council to have him removed from the board.

Maieron will be given one week to comply with each reprimand and agree to the code of conduct – or he will face the next reprimand on the list.
